Parabolic Solar Collector

how can i choose a low cost and effective tracking mechanism for a parabolic trogh solar collector.?
of course you'll mount the trough so that no tracking is needed for the day.
the only reason for the tracking is because of the solar inclination with the seasons.
that said, you could walk past it once every couple days and adjust it a bit.
and the price surely is right.

Parabolic Trough $76.47 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A parabolic trough is a type of solar thermal energy collector. It is constructed as a long parabolic mirror (usually coated silver or polished aluminum) with a Dewar tube running its length at the focal point. Sunlight is reflected by the mirror and concentrated on the Dewar tube. The trough is usually aligned on a northsouth axis, and rotated to track the sun as it moves across the sky each day.Alternatively the trough can be aligned on an eastwest axis, this reduces the overall efficiency of the collector, due to cosine loss, but only requires the trough to be aligned with the change in seasons, avoiding the need for tracking motors. Solar Furnace $87.62 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A solar furnace is a structure used to harness the rays of the sun in order to produce high temperatures, usually for industry. This is achieved using a curved mirror (or an array of mirrors) that acts as a parabolic reflector, concentrating light (Insolation) onto a focal point. The temperature at the focal point may reach 3,500 C (6,330 F), and this heat can be used to generate electricity, melt steel, make hydrogen fuel or nanomaterials. Parabolic Induction $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In mathematics, parabolic induction is a method of constructing representations of a reductive group from representations of its parabolic subgroups. If G is a reductive algebraic group and P = MAN is the Langlands decomposition of a parabolic subgroup P, then parabolic induction consists of taking a representation of MA, extending it to P by letting N act trivially, and inducing the result from P to G.There are some generalizations of parabolic induction using cohomology, such as cohomological parabolic induction and DeligneLusztig theory. Parabolic Loudspeaker $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A parabolic loudspeaker is a loudspeaker which seeks to focus its sound in coherent plane waves either by reflecting sound output from a speaker driver to a parabolic reflector aimed at the target audience, or by arraying drivers on a parabolic surface. The resulting beam of sound travels farther, with less dissipation in air, than horn loudspeakers, and can be sent to isolated audience targets, unlike line array loudspeakers. The parabolic loudspeaker has been used for such diverse purposes as directing sound at faraway targets in performing arts centers and stadia, for industrial testing, for intimate listening at museum exhibits, and as a sonic weapon. A parabolic loudspeaker can send sound farther than traditional loudspeaker designs. The focused waves of a parabolic loudspeaker tend to dissipate in air at about 3 dB SPL per doubling of distance, rather than the usual 6 dB of conventional loudspeakers. Parabolic Microphone $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A parabolic microphone is a microphone that uses a parabolic reflector to collect and focus sound waves onto a receiver, in much the same way that a parabolic antenna (e.g., satellite dish) does with radio waves. Typical uses of this microphone, which has unusually focused front sensitivity and can pick up sounds from many meters away, include nature recording, field audio for sports broadcasting, eavesdropping, law enforcement, and even espionage. Parabolic Sar $60.54 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In the field of technical analysis, Parabolic SAR (SAR stop and reverse) is a method devised by J. Welles Wilder, Jr, to find trends in market prices or securities. It may be used as a trailing stop loss based on prices tending to stay within a parabolic curve during a strong trend. The concept draws on the idea that time is an enemy, and unless a security can continue to generate more profits over time, it should be liquidated. The indicator generally works well in trending markets, but provides whipsaws during nontrending, sideways phases; as such, Wilder recommended establishing the strength and direction of the trend first through the use of things such as the Average Directional Index, and then using the Parabolic SAR to trade that trend. Parabolic Reflector $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A parabolic reflector (or dish or mirror) is a reflective device used to collect or project energy such as light, sound, or radio waves. Its shape is that of a circular paraboloid, that is, the surface generated by a parabola revolving around its axis. The parabolic reflector transforms an incoming plane wave traveling along the axis into a spherical wave converging toward the focus. Conversely, a spherical wave generated by a point source placed in the focus is transformed into a plane wave propagating as a collimated beam along the axis. Parabolic Geometry $81.25 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Euclidean geometry is a mathematical system attributed to the Alexandrian Greek mathematician Euclid, whose Elements is the earliest known systematic discussion of geometry. Euclids method consists in assuming a small set of intuitively appealing axioms, and deducing many other propositions (theorems) from these. Although many of Euclids results had been stated by earlier mathematicians, Euclid was the first to show how these propositions could be fit into a comprehensive deductive and logical system. The Elements begin with plane geometry, still taught in secondary school as the first axiomatic system and the first examples of formal proof. It goes on to the solid geometry of three dimensions. Much of the Elements states results of what are now called algebra and number theory, couched in geometrical language. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Solar Power Tower $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The solar power tower (also known as Central Tower power plants or Heliostat power plants or power towers) is a type of solar furnace using a tower to receive the focused sunlight. It uses an array of flat, movable mirrors (called heliostats) to focus the suns rays upon a collector tower. Early designs used these focused rays to heat water, and used the resulting steam to power a turbine. However, designs using liquid sodium in place of water have been demonstrated; this is a metal with high heat capacity, which can be used to store the energy before using it to boil water to drive turbines. These designs allow power to be generated when the sun is not shining. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F.
