I am looking at buying a solar cell kit. It says it comes with a charge indicator. Is this the same thing as a charge regulator, or do I need to buy a regulator as well? Thanks

With a small kit, it's likely that the solar cells connect directly to the battery, and no regulator is needed. With low-powered cells, there's little danger of overcharging the battery.

In fact, I wonder too about the meaning of "charge indicator" in such a kit. It could mean something to detect how much charge is on the battery, but if the kit is inexpensive, it could simply be a light that indicates that the battery is charging, period.
