Solar Government Funding

What would our government do if...?
If an alien space ship landed in the middle of New York and an alien came out and said he was from a foreign planet that was galaxies away from our solar system, and he was here to explore our planet (so he comes in peace, basically.) Which action would our government take:
1: Fund and expedition along with a team of Human advisers to join the alien?
2: Immediately abduct the alien, deny it's existence as they probe it in Area 5.1?
3: Declare war on it's race and immediately unleash an inner-stellar with it's planet?
4: Invite his friends to come to earth, and invite them to live alongside us and share technologies?
5: Your own answer and why?
The alien craft would get blown out of the sky by US defense systems fearing another 9/11

Funding Democratization $49.34 Democracy is a fine political system, but an expensive economic venture. Political parties and election campaigns cost money. Where does the money come from and at what sacrifice? Issues connected with political finance are significant but often neglected aspects of the process of democratization. Funding Democratization examines how money and politics interact in emerging democracies. The contributors investigate the funding of political parties in early North America, financial uncertainties of party formation in European countries, funding of democratization in new democracies, and the influence of funding on contenders for power. They also address the nature of political competition in countries that are seeking to embrace, often for the first time, the rules of democracy. They question in what ways politicians can help make democracy affordable. The volume compares important democratizing countries, such as Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Spain, and the regions of East Asia and East/Central Europe. It also investigates the lessons that emerging democracies can learn from the history of political finance in todays more established democracies. Funding Democratization will be of interest to political scientists and specialists in international social and political development. Peter Burnell studied economics and politics at the University of Bristol before going on to complete his graduate studies with a dissertion on The Political and Social Thought of Thomas Paine, 17371809, both at the University of Warwick. He is the founding joint editor of the journal Democratization and the accompanying book series Democratization Studies. Alan Ware is a professor of politics and a tutorial fellow in politics at Worcester College, Oxford University. His research interests include U.S. politics and comparative government. Litigation Funding for the Property Industry $151.35 The funding of litigation is now a major factor in the property industry. This book examines new legal developments in the field in the UK. The book provides technical detail and also practical examples to ensure the manager is in a better position to negotiate with his/her lawyers. The new Court rules combined with the stated aim of Government policy of removing legal aid and at the same time ensuring access of Justice through contingency fees has meant a revolution in the manner of funding litigation. But this has meant an even more acute conflict of interest between solicitor and client because the lawyer needs to be able to recoup funding the action by taking a share of the proceeds of the claim. The commercial client needs to be aware of the parameters to negotiate the conditional fee agreement. The aim of this book is to: provide a clear outline of the meaning of conditional fees and contingency fees; provide an outline of the costs that may be payable under the new regime; provide a breakdown by way of summary of different types of legal insurance available on the open market including after the event insurance; give an overview of the fasttrack, smalltrack and multitrack procedures; relate litigation to service charge recovery programs for residential and commercial property. Solar Power in the United Kingdom $76.47 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Until July 2008, solar power in the United Kingdom (photovoltaic electricity generation) was relatively commercially unattractive due to the moderate level of insolation, cheap grid electricity (compared to other European countries), and low financial incentives from government. In particular, net metering was not readily available, due to disagreement on what to do with the VAT. In 2006, the United Kingdom had installed 12.5 MWp of photovoltaic capacity represented just 0.3 of the European total of 3.4GWp. By way of comparison, due to their plans to phase out nuclear power there is a growing capacity in Germany (due to a Feedin Tariff program), where 3.0 GWp had been installed by the end of 2006 (90 of all European capacity). In contrast, solar thermal capacity to supply hot water was expected to grow to 25 MWth in 2006. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Alternative Funding Model for Libraries $186.39 The study proposes an Alternative Funding Model (AFM) for libraries. To achieve this objective a multiphase research process was adopted. In the first phase, a literature review was conducted. Based on this data collection instruments were developed. In the second phase, a survey of libraries was conducted and LIS experts were interviewed. Based on the findings of the previous two phases, an Alternative Funding Model (AFM) was developed and validated from LIS experts. The AFM demands an overhauling of the library system as no fundraising model can succeed in any society unless the image of library is changed to be commensurate with the needs of information society. Based on general systems theory the AFM proposes special inputs, processes and feedback mechanism to get effective outputs. Alternative funding for libraries, according to the Model, revolves around two types of activities: (a) Feebased services, and (b) Fundraising. Leadership skills of library staff and the use of modern information technology in libraries can play a vital role in the success of the proposed AFM. Military Funding of Science $116.3 The military funding of science has had a powerful transformative effect on the practice and products of scientific research since the early 20th century. Particularly since World War I, advanced sciencebased technologies have been viewed as essential elements of a successful military. World War I is often called the chemists war, both for the extensive use of poison gas and the importance of nitrates and advanced high explosives. Poison gas, beginning in 1915 with chlorine from the powerful German dye industry, was used extensively by the Germans and the British; over the course of the war, scientists on both sides raced to develop more and more potent chemicals and devise countermeasures against the newest enemy gases. Physicists also contributed to the war effort, developing wireless communication technologies and soundbased methods of detecting Uboats, resulting in the first tenuous longterm connections between academic science and the military. aWorld War II marked a massive increase in the military funding of science, particularly physics.
