How to power a lamp with Solar Power/Battery?
So im starting to get very interested in using alternative power. And before i get to over board, i'd like to try something on a small scale.
My idea/goal is to be able to power a lamp. But what i'm thinking is, to be able to make it more like a outlet for anything else, like something portable. So basically, i would like to be able to charge a battery, that in turn, could have something like a lamp, or a small fan that would be able to plug into it.
So it'd be like. Solar panel - batter - small plug in device.
I'm wondering what i would need to get started with this idea? i see that most floor lamps use a couple 40 watt bulbs. so would i have to get a few 40watt panels? or something else? and then what else would i have to do to be able to get it to the battery, then to the lamp. like wiring and other pieces?
if this isn't possible, then i guess, what would i have to do to go from solar panel, to lamp? (no battery)

You do not want to use 110 volt bulb as a converter would be needed and a conventional bulb is 90% wast through heat dissipation.Most alternate power sources are 12 volt which is what you want. So either a 12 volt flu recent or LED will do the job and a small battery would run them forever.Also the rating for a 40 watt bulb at 110 volt is almost 1/2 amp and an LED would use milliamps.No special wiring is needed for 12 volt as the panels will be 12 volt. All you do is hook the panel to the battery and the light to the battery
